Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Confirm

Officers mentioned they were alerted by a individual who found a car in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.

The fluid had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they stated.

Officers then discovered multiple other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the fluid was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any harm in association with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities announced they were working "to solve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A senior political figure stated the attack made him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.

"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter focusing on people of foreign heritage in 2020.
